Music video blog
When we were assigned this project we were told to pick a song and make a video rein-acting the original music video. The first step of this project was to pick a group. With working in a group comes teamwork and agreeing on things like the song, dates we were going to film, and assigning jobs in the group. My group originally was going to use the song "Tonge tied" by group love. We decided that we were going to change our song because the music video was in an older house and had a party going on. One of my groups biggest struggles was finding times to film so we decided that we wanted to film our video at school. We finally decided on the song "Congratulations" by post Malone because it took place in a filming studio just like the one we have here at school. The video also had the same "party" theme that the Tonge tied video had so we were somewhat sticking to our original idea.
After we began the beginning process of picking a song and idea we had to get everything ready for the video. My job as art director I had to choose all of the props we would be using in our video. It was fairly easy because we were rein-acting the video so we had to use very similar if not the same props. In the video they had a dog, a tv, a bat, champagne, party hats, confetti, and some illegal substances. So we had to substitute the tv for a piñata and hit it with a stick instead of a bat. We brought in sparkling cider instead of champagne and lollipops instead of the illegal substance. We used confetti, a dog, and party hats in our video. After the props were ready we had to set dates to film. Between me and my other partners we only had two days that we would all be there on the set filming days on the calendar. We used those two days to film as much as we could, one of the days was a block day so we had enough time to film our extras and all of their scenes. We had to film scenes of Morgan on one of the editing days because we ran out of time but we ended up getting everything filmed.
After filming came the editing of the video. Editing the video was easier than any other video before because we had a video to look off of and copy it. The first thing I had to do was sort through all of the clips and delete all of the bloopers and keep all of the clips I would be using. The second step was to put all of the clips in order and add them to the song. The only other thing that was different was that I had to add credits to the video because of copyright. The only problem I ran into was having the lip-syncing match up with the song. There were a few clips where the actor sung too fast or too slow so it didn't match up and I would have to put b roll over it.
