what I learned

 I learned a lot while doing this project. It was our first project that we had to do this school year, I thought it was going to be really hard because  I hadn’t done anything with Photoshop since the last day of school.  Luckily the project was easier than expected because we followed step-by-step off of videos.  I liked this project a lot because we got to do more photo editing while last year we did more of creating logos.  I feel that I learned so much from just doing this first project and I can’t wait to see what I will learn throughout the school year. 


Tools

  Like I said before we are doing more photo editing this year. With that comes a lot of new tools that we did not use before. It was really fun to see all of the tools in photoshop, I didn’t even know you could do such things to a picture. We used tools like the lasso tool, refine selection brush, and the spot healing brush. Those tools did things like duplicate the area and allow you to move it some place else. I can’t wait to learn more about photoshop tools.


incorporating skills

 I know that I will be incorporating a lot of things I learned from these videos in future projects. In the videos we did the basics with all of the tools so that in later projects we will be able to do so much more. While using skills from this project I will also be using  skills that I learned last year in graphic design. Even though so far the two years are different as far as projects go I feel like eventually there will be projects where the two areas of graphic design combine.

Maddy Samuelson Sidewalk chalk

On the first day we got our teams and started thinking of ideas that we could draw that would symbolize each one of us. But the symbols had to sort of have the same theme throughout the drawing. So we each came up with four ideas that we could use. Some were similar and some not at all. For my symbols I chose a red rose which means promise, a sun which I think means happy, a tree for nature, hearts for love, and an American flag for USA. To be similar we all tried to do nature related things but like I said before some were a little off topic. On day two our groups started sketching the things we wanted to draw on paper. Some things that people chose they didn't like anymore so they changes some symbols. What I did is I had a few symbols from the day before and I added some so that I could fill all of my space up. vector illustrated portrait

vector illustrated portrait pre-production When we were assigned this project we were asked to take a picture of ourselves, siblings, or a pet and turn it into a vector portrait. I chose to use a picture of my dog because in that certain picture he had just came back from getting a hair cut and they put a cute bow tie on him. The sun was also shining through the window which made his fur have a variety of colors.We had a choice between an organic vector project and a low poly geometric portraits. I chose to do the low poly geometric portrait, which is when you make tiny triangles on the picture and then fill them will color. I thought that this kind of portrait would look better on an animal than the organic portrait would.  production My time spent creating in illustrator was very enjoyable.
